  • Festival of Sant Antoni de Abad – Celebrate the patron saint of animals! Scores of animals and their owners will line up to be blessed after a morning mass. For more details, see our recent post on this popular tradition.

  • Valencia Orchestra at Palau de la Música – Featuring Manuel Blanco on trumpet, performing works by Verdi, Hummel, and Beethoven.

  • Carmen Center for Contemporary Culture – Filippo Mazzoli (traverso flute) and Denis Zardi (piano) commemorate the music of Ravel. Free admission.

  • Kassandra at Teatre Micalet – A play by Sergio Blanco reimagining Cassandra as an immigrant sex worker with the gift of prophecy. Performed in broken English. Premieres January 17 and runs until January 26.

The 2025 season of the Valencian Pelota League officially begins this weekend!

Valencian Pelota is a traditional handball game that has been played for centuries in Valencia. Its roots run deep in the region’s culture, with variations found throughout Spain. Recognized as an integral part of Valencia’s heritage, the game blends athleticism, strategy, and a sense of community.

You can catch the action every Saturday at 5:30 PM at the Trinquet de Pelayo, Valencia’s iconic pelota court. Matches run weekly until April.
