Valencia Weekend: Semana Santa, medieval markets and more

Buen Finde! It’s Semana Santa, the Holy Week before Easter, and Valencia will be full of traditional religious processions—especially in the seaside barrios of Cabanyal, Canyamelar, and El Grau. Expect road closures and traffic restrictions in those areas, particularly around procession times.

Semana Santa Marinera

Valencia’s Holy Week processions are rooted in the fishing communities of the maritime barrios. Catholic brotherhoods carry religious icons through the streets, from churches to the sea. ? Full schedule here

Main processions:

  • Palm Sunday – 13 April

  • Good Friday – 18 April
