Buen Finde! Welcome back to new season of activities in Valencia. This September kicks off with two art and design festivals. Elsewhere: punk energy from LA, circus acrobatics in Ciutat Vella, and a dinosaur takeover for the kids at El Saler.

Valencia Design Fest opens this weekend

A month of art and design events kicks off across the city, with Poland as this year’s guest country. New Ciutat Vella space Pasaje 49 is showcasing Polish artists working in ceramic, glass, paper and metal, and the Ojo Garabato drawing club meets at Jardín de Monforte on Sunday at 10:30am — bring your own sketchbook and materials.

Last chance for Antonio Palomino at Bellas Artes

The exhibition Antonio Palomino y la noche barroca surveys the Spanish painter who bridged the styles of Velázquez and Goya. It closes 20 September.

Les Arts opens a season built on power and politics

The new opera season brings together major names in world opera around themes of power and geopolitics. It opens in October with Bizet’s Carmen, followed by Wagner, Mozart and the contemporary Nixon in China.
