Valencia's maritime neighborhoods celebrate the traditional Moors and Christians parade this weekend with a medieval market along the Cabanyal Beach Promenade. Expect street food and handicrafts. Saturday, 20 September, is the main event, with the colorful parade on Calle de la Reina at 7 pm.

The Patraix Festival celebrates with a meeting of Gegants y Cabuts, Giants and Big Heads - enormous traditional puppets made of wood and plaster. The puppets will be arriving throughout the day, but theere will be a mascletà at 2pm and the main parade starts at 6 pm. See website for details.
UPDATE: Rain warning has moved this to 10 PM. More than 200 drones will fly over Valencia's iconic City of Arts and Sciences in a light spectacle as part of the city's birthday celebrations. Stake a spot near Les Arts, the Monteolivete Bridge, or Avendia López Piñero for the best view.
