Valencia News: Fallas 2025 in Full Swing

Good morning ?? Here is your Thursday update in the midst of Fallas! ? Weekend highlights will be out Friday morning.


Fallas 2025

Despite intermittent rain, Valencia’s festive spirit remains undiminished. Thousands pack the streets daily to witness the mascletà, the city’s signature firecracker display. On Wednesday, the Red Cross treated over 20 people, mostly for fainting, but also for eye and ear injuries, as well as one case of severe intoxication. Read more in Las Provincias

Politicians Avoid the Mascletà Balcony

Las Provincias reports that top politicians have been notably absent from this year’s mascletà. Last year, Generalitat President Carlos Mazón attended two mascletàs, but this year—amid criticism of his handling of the October floods—he has skipped them altogether. Read more

Record Participation in the Ofrenda

This year, around 120,000 falleros will take part in the traditional Ofrenda, presenting flowers to build an enormous Virgin Mary effigy. Concerns have arisen that the sheer number of participants could push the ceremony into the early hours of the morning. Valencia’s Beauty Industry Faces a Fallera Hair Emergency

With thousands of falleras needing salon services, Valencia’s hairdressers are fully booked and calling for emergency stying help. A new trend has also emerged: larger hair buns (rodetes)—9.5 cm buns are no longer enough, with some reaching 11 cm or more! Levante has the details

Flood Investigation and Court Case

The Catarroja court investigating the October floods has indicted two Generalitat officials, Salomé Pradas and Emilio Argüeso, for their role in the emergency response. However, Generalitat President Carlos Mazón has not been included in the charges. More details from Valencia Extra
