What’s On This Weekend: Valencia in Holiday Mode!
Buen Finde! Christmas is just around the corner, and Valencia is filling up with holiday activities. Below is a selection of some of the best free or low-cost events happening in the city this weekend, from live music to art openings and family plans.
I’ve also put together a dedicated holiday guide — Celebrating the Holiday Season in Valencia — with Christmas markets, concerts, fairs, and more. I’ll be updating that post regularly, so it’s the best place to bookmark for festive plans.
Music
The SGAE Cultural Center hosts a free concert featuring Venezuelan singer-songwriter Eddi Yane on Thursday, 18 December, celebrating the release of his debut album.
The Centre del Carme is packed with holiday music this weekend. On Thursday, there’s a talk and performance with Gibraltar-based pop-rock band Melon Diesel. On Saturday, the choir Nox Cor takes the stage. Both events are free.
The Valencia City Council is launching a new youth-focused holiday concert series with an open-air show by Valencian artist Terete on Friday evening at Plaça de la Crida, near the Torres de Serranos.
At Parque Central, Nave Ribes continues its cultural programme with two free concerts: a Senegalese-Spanish musical exchange on Saturday, followed by a contemporary flamenco performance by Isa Bailoca on Sunday evening.
Storytelling, Film & Theatre
Club Hemingway’s Literary Open Mic returns to Radio City on Thursday, 19 December — a relaxed evening of readings and live performance.
Both La Filmoteca and Cine Lys are screening classic films this weekend, including Hitchcock’s Rear Window and the Christmas favourite Gremlins. Screenings are in the original version with Spanish subtitles (VOSE).
Espai de Circ is hosting a festive circus cabaret on Friday night, with family-friendly performances earlier in the evening and adult-only shows later on.
Art Events
Valencia’s art galleries open their doors on Thursday evening for Copa de Navidad. From 6:30 to 8:30 pm, participating spaces across the city will be welcoming visitors — often with a glass of cava in hand. Details via this gallery round-up.
The contemporary art association LAVAC is also offering free guided gallery walks around the city from 18–20 December. Tours are in Spanish, and places are limited. Registration is required via this form.
Kids & Families
There’s a full bonanza of Christmas activities for children in the holiday feature post, but here are a few non-holiday-specific options for the weekend:
At the Museum of Ceramics, kids can paint their own azulejo tile, inspired by the historic ceramics of the Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas. The workshop is in Spanish.
CaixaForum Valencia is running several family-friendly workshops and shows, including a playful music-and-math performance and a Christmas singalong.
The CAHH – Hortensia Herrero Art Centre has a special holiday programme for children, with art workshops and guided kids’ tours throughout the season.
For more Christmas events, markets, and family plans, head over to the holiday feature post. I’ll also be updating the events calendar soon — with New Year’s Eve and Three Kings details coming next.
Buen finde y felices fiestas.
