Getting Around Valencia During Fallas: Traffic & Transport Updates

Fallas is full of festive spirit — but it can make getting around the city a challenge. If you’re navigating Valencia during the daily mascletà, here’s what to expect.

Road Traffic

From March 1–14, roads surrounding Plaza del Ayuntamiento will be closed to traffic from 11:45 am to 2:30 pm for the daily mascletà.

From March 16–20, closures expand further to include Plaza España and the Petxina underpass, with significantly restricted access across the city center. (see map below)

For official traffic updates, Transit Valencia, the city’s traffic authority posts regularly on X.

EMT Buses

EMT buses are being temporarily rerouted to avoid the city center during mascletà hours.

Important: Google Maps and the EMT app may not reflect the temporary diversions.

Route changes in effect March 1–15: EMT Diversions

From March 16–19, routes will change again as additional streets close. Check the EMT Valencia website for the latest updates before traveling.

Metrovalencia

Metrovalencia is running extra services during mascletà days to handle increased demand.

However, from March 16–19, the central stations Xàtiva and Colón will be closed from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm to prevent overcrowding.

Bicycles and Scooters

During Fallas, the most reliable way to move around the city is often on foot, by bicycle, or by electric scooter. This year, Valencia is also deploying a special police unit on scooters to monitor festivities and bike lanes.

We’ll post any further changes as they’re announced. In the meantime, plan ahead, allow some extra time, and enjoy Fallas safely!
