What’s On This Weekend: Fall Fests, Free Music and Motorcycles
Buen Finde! Autumn cold is setting in this weekend, and Aemet is forecasting the arrival of the seasonal calima — a Saharan wind that carries fine sand across the Mediterranean. According to Las Provincias, there’s even a chance of “blood rain,” when orange dust particles tint the rainfall.
Despite the hazy skies, it’s a full weekend for food, film, music, and fall festivals around Valencia.
Festivals
The museum at the City of Arts and Sciences is celebrating its 25th birthday with a light spectacle. Futuraqua is a free immersive sound and light experience reflected in the Les Arts fountains. On Saturday. November 15 at 7 pm.
Balls al Carrer brings traditional Valencian dance to Plaza Manises on Sunday.
Over in La Saïdia, Plaza Santa Mónica hosts a lively neighborhood fair with local shops, food stalls, face painting, and arts and crafts.
Food
Cuina Oberta is now open for bookings. This gastronomy festival runs 20–30 November, offering special menus and experiences at reduced prices in participating restaurants — including several Michelin-starred spots.
The Ruta de Les Coques continues this weekend, celebrating Valencia’s beloved traditional flatbread. It’s €10 for a coca and beer at participating restaurants. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite!
And food critic Santos Ruiz has released his annual list of Valencia’s 55 Best Restaurants, crowning Ricard Camarena as the new king of Valencian cuisine — ending the long reign of Quique Dacosta. Levante-EMV ?
Film
The Maniatic Fantastic Film Festival returns to ABC Park Cinema, showcasing international sci-fi, fantasy, and horror short films (all in VOSE). This year’s selections will qualify for the Goya Awards.
At Cine Babel, the Film Club screens Yorgos Lanthimos’s latest, Bugonia, on Thursday in VOSE — followed by a talk from Prof. Manuel de la Fuente of the University of Valencia.
La Filmoteca screens classic films in VOSE. This weekend: Kathryn Bigelow’s cult sci-fi Strange Days.

Free Friday evening concert by indie-rock group Local No. 5 at CC Nave 3 Ribes in Parque Central.

Museo de Bellas Artes unveils a new exhibition of masterworks from the BBVA Collection, featuring classical and modern art from the 19th and early 20th centuries. On view through February.
